After about seven months of development, I decided to put this blog online: there is a lot of action and development going on and I strongly suggest you to subscribe to both this blog and LAMH FB Fan Page so you won't miss next updates.
I plan to post regularly, almost every day with news about development, new renders and lot of information on this project.

Michael 5: beard test
Look at my Hair can obviously create any kind of fur and hair on any kind of figure; so making a beard is not a problem.
In
this example, I did almost no styling at all: I just set the follicles,
grew the guide hair and full hair. Exported to Studio as RenderMan
curves and render!

Victoria 5 and cubic curves!
New human experiment with Victoria 5. I was finally able to use cubic
curves instead of linear curves: this means that even if preview hair
have sharp corners, 3Delight will "gently" interpolate and smooth those
(technically speaking, it will calculate a Catmull-Rom spline using the
same set of points), producing a better output.

Genesis: wild hair !
I felt like giving Genesis some wild hair, so I started defining the follicle area (piece of cake, no more than 3 minutes of work), grew guide hair, applied some spherize effect in order to drape those a little bit on the head mesh, and shaped those with the usual tools (comb, scissors, scale).
One of the neat options in LAMH is the full hair automatic update: that means that working on guide hair will automatically update full hair as well, so you can see the final shape in real time.
That's all in the video I made:
Finally, I exported hair as RenderMan (yes I'm in love with it) and rendered about 300.000 hairs (almost 3 times the average human hair count) in about 45 minutes (on my Mac Pro 2x2.26Ghz, 12GB RAM).

Some action: Gorilla making video
A brief video showing how the workflow involved in covering the Genesis Gorilla with fur.
I suggest you watch it full screen and HD1080: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=876SCeFleIQ

Also the penguin gets his fur!
Another quick example of how simple and quick is to cover a figure with fur. After defining the follicles, it took just one mouse click to cover the body with fur, and 5 minutes to style the hair.
Here below the images showing the standard penguin figure and the furred version. Click to view it full size.

DAZ Gorilla: let's give him some fur!
This is an example of what Look at my Hair is capable of. Covering some parts of the Genesis Gorilla with fur it's a kids game, as well as shaping it and creating some rebel hair.
In this example I exported fur as Renderman curves, which being highly optimized and instances, render very fast and with a fantastic quality.

Lorez Cats furred
In these images you see how the standard Lorez Cat figure (first image) has been improved adding dynamic fur. Renderman curves are just awesome, and, if you like, Look at my Hair will even color the curves according to figure textures.
Infact, you can see from the images how the textures applied to the cat body are actually extended also to the fur strands. That's definitely cool!

Jaguar
Yet another quick render after some Jaguar by AM figure parts have been covered with short fur. Also in this case, the fur colors are "driven" from the jaguar body texture, thus retaining the proper color relation.
